Getting Out of Your Body’s Way John Cali

As you may recall, we recently published two newsletters on
physical health and well- being. In response to those articles,
one of our good friends sent us the following comments:

“. . . if you’re open to a follow-up question with the body
theme, maybe (you could ask) Chief Joseph HOW one gets out of
one’s body’s way. I mean, I know that all (Joseph) talks about
is absolutely and totally true. But it’s kind of hard to ignore
something that is ALWAYS with you (and being aware of) its
moment-by-moment state.”

How do you get out of your body’s way? An excellent question!

As our reader wrote in her letter, it’s sometimes a daunting
task to stay neutral when you are always in the middle of the
situation you’re wanting to stay neutral about.

Your body is always with you. Wherever you go, there it is. You
cannot escape it! It’s a fact of your life.

The only way to escape your body, obviously, is to die. But we
don’t want you to die until you’re good and ready to go.

So, friends, we seem to have a dilemma, don’t we?

But, really, this is not a dilemma at all.

Let’s take a look at one ordinary day in your lives. In the
course of that day, you encounter all sorts of situations and
information you may not resonate with. Perhaps even situations
and information you start feeling depressed about. Especially if
you linger too long in the negative feelings.

For example, your mainstream news media. We are not advising you
to avoid your news media entirely. But it would behoove you to
limit your diet, if you will, of all the “bad” news your media
love to report.

So, yes, we would urge you to nurture a genuine concern and
compassion for your sisters and brothers throughout the planet
who are suffering. And we would urge you to assist them in
whatever ways you feel drawn to do.

But, in that process of helping others, it’s absolutely
essential for you to stay peaceful and centered in your
alignment with your higher self. To even feel a sense of deep
joy in the midst of the suffering others around you are
experiencing.

You are no good to anyone if you walk into their pain with them.
You are of use to them only when you come to them in their pain
from your own higher place of peace and joy. You do not uplift
others by feeling their pain. You uplift others by feeling your
joy.

And then your vibration of joy will begin to transmute their
pain, and to help them see there is a way out of their suffering.

It’s all about vibration. Your higher vibration of joy will ease
their lower vibration of pain into a higher place. Therefore,
the best way you can help others is to be happy, to seek your
own joy first.

Now, everything we have just said applies to your own physical
bodies. If your body is distressed or dis-eased in any way, you
cannot help it by focusing on its problems. You can help it only
by focusing on the solutions. That is, focusing on relieving the
distress and dis-ease.

You do that best by getting out of your body’s way. As we’ve
said many times before, your body knows how to heal itself. It
knows its natural state is one of balance, perfect health and
well-being.

The only thing — the only — thing keeping your body from its
natural state is you!

Yes, we realize your body is always with you. You can’t get away
from it. (Nor would you want to until you decide to leave.) But
it’s entirely possible for you to stay out of your body’s way.

If you find it difficult to focus on restoring your body to
perfect health when it is in a state of imbalance, then practice
taking your thoughts off your body.

Think thoughts that feel good. You are, after all, in control of
your thoughts. So think good thoughts — whatever feels good and
brings you pleasure.

We are not saying to deny your body’s current condition. We are
saying to ignore your body’s current condition.

Keep your focus and your thoughts on health, on having a healthy
body.

And if you find that too daunting, simply take your thoughts off
your body entirely.

Do whatever it takes to feel good. Spend time with a beloved
pet, make love with someone special, go for a walk in the gentle
rain, fix yourself a delicious dinner, watch a funny movie. You
get the idea.

As we just said, do whatever it takes to make yourself feel
good. And when you feel good, only good can come to your body.
For you have mastered the art of staying out of its way.

“Is there something beyond Me?”

Have you ever heard the term, “postmodernism”? Do you agree with
it? Postmodernism is the enlightened philosophy of the
intellectual and the seeker. Actually to me, it seems to be a
repackaging of the former philosophy, existentialism. Remember?
Existentialism was the rage of the 1960s, especially on college
campuses and the Viet Nam War protests. We were told that we
existed first, and then we discovered our essence. That’s some
heavy stuff.

Yes, that’s right. The educated and well learned wanted the
young, impressionable students of America to drop the God stuff
and build their own destiny. Now it doesn’t take a smart person
to see the dangers associated with making oneself one’s own god.
The only true God is not man, but way beyond man. Remember the
Beatles’ album Rubber Soul released in December 1965? There was
a song on the album entitled, “Nowhere Man.” Listen to some of
the lyrics: “He’s a real nowhere man/ Sitting in his nowhere
land/ Making all his nowhere plans/ For nobody/ Doesn’t have a
point of view/ Knows not where he’s going to / Isn’t he a bit
like you and me?” This guy is really lost.

John Lennon may have been an existentialist, making fun of us
who are seeking our destiny through God, but I’m not. Then
again, Lennon’s philosophy about life doesn’t surprise me. Why?
Because many of his songs were written in a drug induced state.
He could have been getting his information from all kinds of
gods. John Lennon was a talented man, but he was far from being
a good spokesperson for the common man. In fact, wasn’t he the
one that once said that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus
Christ? I think he was. And it was about the time that “Nowhere
Man” was playing everywhere over AM radio. Wasn’t it?

The Bible clearly states that God is above all things. And all
things in the universe submit to His Omnipotent Laws. For
example, the Ten Commandments are God’s highest moral law in the
universe. It’s just as wrong to murder your neighbor in Asia as
it is in America, Israel, or any other nation on planet earth.
The postmodernists and the other “ists” would say that man makes
his own laws (if it feels good do it) and is responsible to
uphold no one’s moral law but his own. That’s dangerous. A man
as an existentialist could say that he doesn’t believe it’s
wrong to seize another man’s property. However, what happens
when the postmodern man has his prized possessions stolen? He
immediately cries, “I’ve been violated!” Then he demands
justice—universal justice that punishes thievery. That, my
friend, sounds like God’s universal condemnation for stealing.
And it is.

God is the Supreme Law of the universe whether or not you or I
like it. If you disagree with me, then go ahead—break God’s law.
Try to see if there are any negative consequences associated
with being sexually active to multiple partners or living with
unforgiveness, storing up hate until you begin to premeditate
murder or any other moral code broken at whim. But for me, I
think I’ll just obey God and follow His commandments. Like I
said, that intellectual stuff gives me a headache. I thank God
that he has given me enough wisdom to seek the foolishness of
the Cross of Jesus Christ. How about you?

In response to our last newsletter article

one of our good friends wrote us about some health problems
she’d been having. She was pleasantly surprised at how easy and
how much fun it was to heal herself.

Here’s her letter. Following that is Joseph’s response.

Hi John,

Hope you are staying warm. Thank you for the (last newsletter)
article! I can totally relate to it.

I was talking with a friend this morning about my experience in
healing my physical challenge. I then read your article which
confirmed everything I had talked to her about on the phone this
morning. How uncanny!

I have been experiencing heart problems for a while now. Of
course, I have been focusing on (them) and feeling anxious about
it. Last Friday . . . a friend popped by. She . . . invited me
to watch a flamenco show at a restaurant. I gladly took her up
on this spontaneous invitation.

(At) a table beside us (there were) 12 people . . . laughing,
dancing and having a great time! Their vibration was very
uplifting and helped to create a shift for (me). My heart pain
and headache went away!

I soon realized that I needed more joy in my life. I had an
imbalance which created the dis-ease in my body.

The next day some friends came by unexpectedly. (The boyfriend
of one of) my girlfriends had a sore foot . . . and I . . . told
him I could do some reiki on his foot.

All of us got lost in conversation and laughter. I (hadn’t done)
reiki on his foot yet when they were ready to leave . . . (but)
he said his foot was fine and he asked me (what I did).

I realized then that when I experienced a shift in my vibration
the night before at the restaurant, my vibration of joy elevated
his vibration to heal.

I found myself learning to feel worthy of having more joy in my
life. (Also), when feeling more joy in my life, I (find) my
financial prosperity increasing.

As a lightworker, I don’t have to go out there healing others. I
am finding that it is giving to ourselves first which then
creates a ripple effect for others. I read in a book that most
people who are in the healing field are doing it because they
are avoiding their own pain and are not allowing their own
emotional needs to be met. That struck a chord with me –
learning to meet my emotional needs. I knew what I didn’t want
but never really allowed myself to think of what I do want and
allowing that to manifest in my life.

Chief Joseph

We have spoken of joy many times over the years we’ve been
working with John. Joy is a central theme in everything we talk
about. Joy is the center of our work, and the center of your
being.

When you are feeling joy in your lives, when you seek joy in all
your experiences, when you feel joy no matter what is happening
in the world and the people around you — it is then you are in
the highest vibration possible for any human being. It is then
you are perfectly aligned with your higher self, that
all-powerful, all-wise part of you that lives eternally in the
higher vibrations and dimensions of the universe.

Joy is the key to all you wish for. So seek the joy in every and
all experience — even those you consider negative or painful.
The joy is always there — though it won’t be obvious always
unless you look for it.

Joy is your birthright. Joy is natural. Joy is your connection
to the divine energy you may call God. Joy is your bond with
your higher self.

Joy is all your higher self — your soul — knows. It lives in a
state of constant joy. And when you are fully aligned with your
higher self, you also will live in a state of constant joy, a
state of pure bliss.

And so, friends, let us talk briefly about the effects of joy in
your human lives.

Whenever you are vibrating at, or close to, the frequency your
soul vibrates at always, you will find what you often call
miracles happening all over the place.

Your bodies cannot remain dis-eased or dis-ordered when you are
in a state of joy. Your relationships cannot remain troubled
when you are in a state of joy. Your abundance cannot remain
distant from you when you are in a state of joy. Your life
cannot but improve easily when you are in a state of joy.

You will soar when you are in a state of joy.

Joy is absolutely the secret to life. You will always find joy
in doing what’s right for you. And you will always know what’s
right for you by the joy it brings you.

The world mostly does not believe in joy. Your news media do not
believe in joy. Even many of your religious teachers do not
believe in joy. And yet, at the root of most religions is the
concept of joy.

The problem is many religions teach joy will come in the next
life. And to get to that joyful next life, you must suffer in
this life. What a bummer!

Nothing could be farther from the truth! Joy is your birthright
here and now. Seek joy always. If you can’t find easily, make it
up — make up something to feel joyful about.

Then you will find the universe bringing you more and more
reasons to be joyful. The more joyful you are, the more
successful you are. And the more you will create for yourselves
heaven on earth.

Joy truly is the key to all you wish for.

How do we feel the fullness of life itself?

We have to go underneath the busy mind. And go into that deep
sense of being itself. Here we find love, inspiration, and our
own free spirit.

In your field of consciousness, there is a deep sense of
eternal, timeless awareness. It is an inner silence. The
psychology of well being originates here.

Yet the silence is full. It has an amplitude and dimension to
it. It is a vast power, a benign power, a power of complete and
utter love. It has an undefinable quality that cannot be
described. A quiet philosophy of God and life emerge here.

This is the oneness that is common to all human beings. It is
the infinite unity beneath the surface of phenomena. You realize
your intimate relationship with everything.

Something resides within us, an expansive loveliness, a growing
lovingness, an indispensable sense of what is happening now.

Things change in our lives. We see phenomena pass before us and
it appears to change us. But beneath it all is a constancy of
consciousness.

From this quantum field, consciousness encounters the fullness
of life. This timeless factor, this being, knows only the now.
Past and future are fictions, blips of memory, but underneath it
all is the continuum of the now.

Everything happens to this fundamental sense of identity.
Despite the shifting matrix in your life, you remain yourself,
and you remain the timeless observer.

This subtle observer is silent, never speaking, yet unbelievably
alive.

This core of who you are has been called many names:
consciousness, the field of infinite potentiality, the quantum
dimension, the self, the soul, or your being.

This energy of precious awareness stays within you before and
after your experience of being in a body and thinking about the
world through the mind.

Mentally, we divide the now into past and future, but the only
factor in which consciousness happens is now. Without now,
nothing else exists.

What holds the now in place is you. While the mind flits here
and there, mapping out phenomena, the vast power of
consciousness holds everything together, and makes everything
coherent.

The one factor that remains constant in your life is the present
moment. And it is held by the field of consciousness. All
phenomena arise from now in consciousness, and it’s you in your
deepest sense.

Although many of us use self-help tools like affirmations,
visualizations, NLP techniques, and spiritual invocations, we
sometimes find that nothing happens. This, to say the least, is
disheartening.

After many years as a psychotherapist, I found that the brain
can be compared to a computer. Since the computer was founded to
replicate some of the features of our brains, the analogy also
works the other way.

In a computer, a corrupted file, a virus, or any other type of
malignant software is sufficient to slow the computer down,
create frequent crashes, and cause difficulties in opening
certain files.

In a brain, a negative decision based on some troubling event is
sufficient to create internal resistance. This resistance is
unconscious and often defies the most valiant efforts by the
conscious mind to defeat it.

While working in therapy or holistic practice is an excellent
way to overcome blockers, internal feedback loops that prevents
forward progress, it isn’t always convenient and affordable to
find the right person when you need him or her.

What do we do to move forward when we feel stuck? How do we
debug the brain? And how do we do it on our own?

In pondering this question, I came across this marvelous
technique by Karol Truman in her amazing book, Feelings Buried
Alive Never Die…

She has created a script that speaks to your unconscious mind
using a spiritual perspective. It’s deliberately convoluted and
confusing to the conscious mind so that the unconscious gets to
work. Also, you don’t feel anything after you’re done, since
it’s below the radar of your usual awareness.

I’ll give it to you here to try out. And, incidentally, if you
feel that it doesn’t work, recognize that this too is resistance
and work on releasing your doubt (which is basically a fear of
failure.)

Spirit, please locate the origin of my feeling/thought of
feeling negative about (insert the feeling or belief you want to
release here).

Take each and every level, layer, area and aspect of my be-ing
to this origin. Analyze and resolve it perfectly, with God’s
truth.

Come forward in time, healing every incident based upon the
foundation of the first, according to God’s will; until I’m at
the present, filled with light and truth, God’s peace and love,
forgiveness of myself for my incorrect perceptions, forgiveness
of every person, place, circumstance and event which contributed
to this feeling/thought.

With total forgiveness and unconditional love I delete the old
from my DNA, release it, and let it go now! I feel (insert the
way you want to feel here).

I allow every physical, mental, emotional and spiritual problem,
and inappropriate behavior based on the old feelings to quickly
disappear.

Thank you, Spirit, for coming to my aid and helping me attain
the full measure of my creation. Thank you, thank you, thank
you! I love you and praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Intuitive Palmistry: Reading between the Lines - Part 1

Sceptical? Palm reading has been an intriguing; albeit illusive,
ancient art and science. Sometimes thought of as an esoteric
occupation, palm reading is not at all what it seems to be.
Allow me to elaborate:

Aside from `soothsaying and fortune-telling,’ Palm Reading
prevails from dermatoglyphics. Dermatoglypics relates to
friction ridge formations that appear on the palms of the hands
and soles of the feet.1

The International Institute of Hand Analysis explains how the
hands contain coded information relating to a person’s character
and life purpose.2 Other studies, as undertaken by the

“C. S. had the Right Words”

C.S. Lewis (1898-1963) is undoubtedly the most widely read and
best known Christian author of the Twentieth Century. Several
years ago a movie entitled, Shadowlands, starring Anthony
Hopkins was produced about the life of Lewis. It’s now on video
and well worth the time for viewing. One thing remarkable about
Lewis’ writing ability was his range. He could write books to
stump the most hardened agnostic, but he could also write
children’s books (Chronicles of Narnia) that still circulate in
the market places.

When I was a young student at Oklahoma Baptist University in
Shawnee, OK many years ago, I took a course in Lewis’ theology.
It was at that time my taste for Lewis’ material developed. One
of my favorite books is Mere Christianity. I want to highlight
some lines in his book that are widely read by theology students
everywhere. Lewis states: “I am trying here to prevent anyone
saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him:
‘I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t
accept His claim to be God.’ That is the one thing we must not
say. A man who is merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus
said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a
lunatic—on the level with the man who says he is a poached
egg—or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your
choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a
madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you
can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His
feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any
patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He
has not left that open to us. He did not intend to. (Mere
Christianity [New York: Touchstone, 1996] 56.)

While I’m on the topic, what do you say about Jesus? Who was He?
Some say that He was a myth, perpetuated through history by
shallow minds. Some say that He was only a historical person. He
did some great things for His fellowman, but that’s it. Some say
that He was then, and His teachings are now, offensive. No one
likes being called a worthless sinner. But, then again, some of
us say that He is Jesus the Christ, the only Begotten Son of
God, Savior and Lord, and He is worth savoring. The Bible says
that Jesus was God’s glory revealed physically. Men and women in
the time of Jesus saw with their own eyes the very glory of God
the Father standing before them—Wow!

Today we can’t see Jesus physically, but we can see Him with the
eyes of our heart. We have two sets of eyes—one set is physical,
and the other set is spiritual. The spiritual eyes of our heart
are very, very important to spiritual survival. Why? Sometimes
our physical eyes focus on the “created thing” and fails to tell
the spiritual eyes to investigate further for possible
deception. For example, many times in the Old Testament the
people of Israel would turn away from the invisible God of
heaven and focus their physical eyes on man-made idols of wood
or stone and call that thing their god. We must have our
spiritual eyes open always to the one and true God of heaven,
resisting the temptation to make gods out of “things” and even
ourselves (Humanism). Yes, the Bible says that we are to walk by
faith and not by (physical) sight. Hear me please. Faith is not
blind. We don’t blindly leap into a realm that is suspicious and
unreasonable. We see the Word of God before us, and our eyes of
faith stay focused on the promises until they become reality.

What about savoring Jesus? Do you? Pastor John Piper says that
when you see something as true and beautiful and valuable, you
savor it. That is, you treasure it. You cherish and admire and
prize it. Spiritual seeing and spiritual savoring are so closely
connected that it would be fair to say: If you don’t savor
Christ, you haven’t seen Christ for who He is. If you don’t
prize him above all things, you haven’t apprehended his true
worth.
